Fox Star India and Disney Plus Hotstar have dropped the trailer for Sadak 2, and it is a doozy. The story picks up 27 years after the incidents of Sadak. Sanjay Dutt’s Ravi and Pooja Bhatt’s Pooja are married and now own a taxi service business.
Ravi is suffering from depression and is contemplating about taking his own life after the death of his wife Pooja (portrayed by Pooja Bhatt). One day, a woman (portrayed by Alia Bhatt) turns up at his office, telling him that she had made a ride booking through Ravi’s wife. After heavy persuasion from the woman’s part, Ravi agrees to give her a ride. A few moments later, we see them arriving at Central Jail to pick up her boyfriend Vishal (portrayed by Aditya Roy Kapur).
But the woman seems to be harboring a secret. She is fighting against an ashram of fake Gurus for taking away her loved one by vandalizing their images and burning their effigies. And one of them (portrayed by Makarand Deshpande) is trying to kill her.
Captioned ‘Three Streams. Three Stories. One Journey’, the trailer shows brief yet beautiful interactions between the characters, portrayed by Dutt, Bhatt and Kapur. All three actors share good onscreen chemistry. Makarand Deshpande’s portrayal of the antagonist is amazing yet haunting to watch.
Sadak 2 talks about very common themes of love, heartache and depression. The words ‘Ab kiske liye jeeyoon?’ which roughly translate to ‘Now who should I live for?’, which are spoken by Dutt’s ‘Ravi’ in the beginning, are scary to listen to, as they are extremely relatable. The story follows all three characters trying to live their lives while facing all these emotions.
Sadak 2 is produced and directed by legendary director Mahesh Bhatt. It is his first directorial movie after a two decade long hiatus. He has also written the script for the movie, along with Sumitra Sengupta. The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Gulshan Grover, Makarand Deshpande, Jisshu Sengupta, Priyanka Bose, Mohan Kapoor, Akshay Anand and Abdul Quadir Amin in pivotal roles.
Sadak 2 premiers on Disney+Hotstar on 28th August. The trailer is available for viewing below.
