Over the past few years, Hindi cinema is doing an excellent job in presenting stories out of a small town. Many films are getting made which are located in different parts of heartland India. Here comes one such attempt, but on an OTT platform.
The title of the movie is named after the town itself. It is situated in Kanpur and is named Kanpuriye. It means a resident of Kanpur. Aparshakthi Khurrana, brother of Ayushmann Kuranna who shot to fame with Dangal and Stree heads the cast.
Kanpuriye is all about three guys, one of whom is played by Aparshakthi and their aspirations to become big. Divyendu Sharma and Harsh Mayer are the other two guys. They want to move to a bigger city (Mumbai) to achieve that but are opposed by the parents and society in general. Their trials and tribunals form the movie.
Check out the trailer below. Ashish Aryan directs the movie. Vijay Raaj, Harshita Kaur, Gyan Prakash, Rajashri Deshpande play other vital roles. Yoodlee Films produces Kanpuriye which will stream on Hotstar VIP from October 25th. It is their Diwali treat for the audience.
