Trailer Talk: TENET Is Going To Be A Typical Nolan Mind Bender

By Binged Bureau - Aug 22, 2020 @ 03:08 pm

TENET TrailerWarner Bros.Pictures just dropped the final trailer for TENET and it is… mind-boggling seems to be a term which is under-appreciative to the masterpiece Nolan has created. Don’t get us wrong, we have no idea what is going on. But every shot in the movie is iconic, every dialogue written is with care; the trailer is an art-form in itself.

Christopher Nolan changed how trailers should be made back in 2005, with the release of his trailer for the movie Batman Begins. And now it seems, he is continuing to push the boundaries on how trailers are supposed to be made. In current times, where film makers show every important scene of a movie in their trailer and pretty much ruins the film in the process, Nolan does the exact same thing but does it without the most important thing for us to string the scenes together with – context.

We know that we are dealing with ‘time/ time travel themed’ movie as it was mentioned by Nolan previously. With the trailer showing a lot of scenes involving our protagonists moving forward while the rest of world moves backward, every shot looks beautiful but it is hard to comprehend what is happening. And unlike his previous trailers, instead of an epic score we hear the voice of Travis Scott as he sings his latest single ‘The Plan’, which was specifically made for the movie.

The change from a score to a pop-rap-electronic song in itself is a monumental change to how Christopher Nolan operates but he somehow manages to make it work with his trailer and even heighten the mystery of his movie. John David Washington shines in the trailer by taking over every scene he is in. His co-stars Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki and Clemence Poesy all get a good amount of screen time in the trailer.

Towards the end, Robert Pattinson and John David Washington’s characters discuss about crashing a plane. A few seconds later we get a few angle shots of a plane crashing into an airport. Christopher Nolan known for his practical effects has probably made an expensive plane crash just for the movie, and we can’t wait to watch it in theaters.

With a cheeky yet a sobering kick in the butt back to reality, Nolan ends the trailer with ‘Thursday, September 3 Where Theaters Are Open’, letting us know a lot of us cant watch this movie due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic (even if it is showing signs of slowing down). Hopefully by the time TENET releases, the lockdown will have been eased and a few theaters will have started some level of public admittance (wishful thinking).

With the crooning voice of Travis Scott in the background, this mind bending thriller will definitely increase the already heightened anticipation for the movie and it will be met by an eager crowd on September 3rd, 2020.
