With more and more movies choosing the streaming way over theatrical release to make their presence felt, it seems quite obvious that their number will only rise in the future. Netflix has another movie releasing only on the streaming platform, and it is the Mark Wahlberg-headlined Spenser Confidential.
Netflix today dropped the trailer and release date for the movie, which is an action-comedy entertainer. The movie stars singer-rapper Post Malone in the outrageous role of a jailbird. Winston Duke, Alan Arkin, Iliza Shlesinger, Bokeem Woodbine, Marc Maron and Colleen Camp are the other primary cast members.
The trailer opens with Spenser (Mark Wahlberg) in jail, beating up some jail mates who dare to attack him. The scene then shifts to show him out of jail and in the home of his mentor, Henry (Alan Arkin), sharing a room with Hawk (Duke).
The trailer then escalatee to a series of action sequences, as Spenser teams up with Hawk, and his former girlfriend Cissy (Iliza Shlesinger) to take revenge on the bad guys who had framed him and got him sent to jail, and who are still after him.
The movie has been directed by Peter Berg, and adapted from the very popular book series by Robert B. Parker, which featured the character of Spenser in over 48 books.
This particular movie is based on the best-selling novel “Wonderland” by Ace Atkins, who continued writing the series after the death of Robert B. Parker.
Spenser Confidential will premiere on Netflix on March 6.
