Troll Trending High Thus Questioning Netflix’s Selective Policy

The Norwegian film ‘Troll‘ has garnered a huge amount of views and is currently trending at no. 3 in India whereas ‘Qala’, which had such a great promotion and word of mouth of the audience is trending on no 6. It is no small feat for a non-Hollywood film which has not been promoted largely by the platform.

Netflix India does a tremendous job when it comes to promoting the films. There was very minimal promotions from Amazon Prime Video for the digital premiere of a blockbuster like Kantara in four languages. But the Hindi version is coming to Netflix, and the platform shot a video featuring Rishab Shetty for the promotion of Kantara’s premiere on the platform. There is no doubt that Netflix is one of the best platforms when it comes to promotions. But it is at the same time very selective regarding the same. ‘Troll’ has not been promoted very well and the credit to its success goes totally to public reactions and word of mouth.

Netflix needs to consider which movies and shows have good potential and which ones do not. They need to spen more on the promotion of films like ‘Troll’ instead of useless shows like ‘Four More Shots Please’.

Troll is written by Espen Aukan, Roar Uthaug and is directed by Roar Uthaug. It has a cast of actors like Ine Marie Wilmann, Kim Falck, Gard B. Eidsvold and many others. The movie tells the story of a gigantic creature that wakes up from its thousand year long captivity in the depths of Dovre Mountain. The creature is enraged and destroys everything that comes into his path and he slowly starts proceeding towards the city of Oslo. You should watch ‘Troll’ if you like international movies and shows and if you are a fan of the mystery-action-thriller genre.
