More than 11 years have passed since the release of Tron: Legacy in the theatres. It served as a sequel to the original Tron instalment, dispatched way back in 1982. The second part takes place 28 years after the events of the first one. Plus, we got an animated Disney XD show in June 2012 based on the movie series. Now, the diehard fans of the franchise are dying to watch the upcoming third entry. Check out what star Jared Leto revealed about Tron 3 below!
In 2020, Leto disclosed that Disney chose him to play a very important role in Tron 3. Also, he expressed his immense love towards the entire franchise in a recent interview conducted by ScreenRant. Here’s what he said:
“I’m a super fan of Tron, and we are working hard on Tron with our incredible partners at Disney. Just an amazing group of creative people. We’re getting closer. We’re getting closer and closer, and who knows? Something may be [coming] sooner than later.”
Despite not turning into a financial success, the 1982 Tron movie received a lot of praises for its outstanding and groundbreaking visual effects. It told the story of a video game developer, Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges). Accidentally, he gets transported inside a virtual reality, “The Grid”. He tries to interact with the other programs residing there to bring himself back to the real world. On the flip side, its sequel’s events have Kevin’s son, Sam, as the protagonist. He looks to save his father from ” The Grid” with the help of Quorra, an algorithm. Plus, he has to stop Clu, a corrupt program, with whatever means necessary.
Disney has not yet divulged details about Tron 3’s plot. But some of the recent reports confirm that the title of the upcoming movie is “Tron: Ares”. And one of the film’s big names, Jared Leto, is busy promoting Morbius these days. It will come out on April 1. Stay tuned for more updates.
