Maharaj should have ideally been released on Netflix India by now. The movie was scheduled for release on the 14th of June but controversies forced it to be on a stay. The regular readers at Binged are well aware of the fact that the High Court forced the movie to be on stay till the 18th of June. We also informed how Netflix India and Yash Raj Films are taking steps to get the movie released. They are ready to challenge the stay order in order to release the film on Netflix India.
However, the troubles are increasing for the makers. There are strong reports suggesting that a man called Ashish Shah has filed a formal police complaint against Maharaj, alleging ill portrayal of the followers of Pushtimarg devotees. He also alleged that the movie portrays history in a wrong manner.
Mind you that the makers have not even released a teaser let alone a trailer or entire film. We are unsure how people could extract such specific information with just a poster. Also, there have been on-road protests in Pune against the film. Chances are that other cities will also follow similar protests, thus increasing the sweat for Netflix India and Yash Raj Films. Let’s see what route the makers take to release the film.
