OTT subscriptions to each platform are bought separately while TV channels are simply and affordably bought with much ease. One big reason people still purchase OTT subscriptions is the content that OTTs offer.
We Indians are one of the worst when it comes to making TV serials. This started particularly after the 2000s when cringe and toxicity were getting served in the name of raising women’s voices; as if fighting over dinner and men are the prime job of housewives.
Even such poisonous shows found an audience, particularly among women. But, they were tolerated mainly because of a lack of options. When OTT came then they came as a relief.
But OTT platforms are now dumping the same cringe which used to belong to the same TV industry. Trashy series with a terrible stories and pathetic execution are slowly coming on OTT which they should not.
The latest edition of the same is MX Player‘s Tu Zakhm Hai. The series is a long-form serial of which 15 episodes have already started streaming today.
They will be extending it just the way it happens on TV.
It will help in nothing but pushing the OTT space to doom which will ultimately harm their credibility only.
The trailer of the serial is repugnant enough for cinephiles to stay away but our real suggestion is for OTT platforms which need to stay away.
