Twenty Best Songs Of R D Burman To Remember Him On His Birthday

Today is the birth anniversary of R D Burman, a legendary genius of Indian music industry popularly referred to as ‘Panchamda’. For several decades he gave us melodious songs that left an imprint in everyone’s heart and mind. From the 1960s to the 1990s, Burman composed musical scores for 331 films. He did major work with Asha Bhosle (his wife) and Kishore Kumar. He was considered rebellious for his time as he mixed retro and western beats in his music.

At a young age of 9 years, Rahul Dev Burman composed his first song, ‘Aye meri topi palat ke aa’, which his father, SD Burman, used in Funtoosh (1956). As a child, he also composed the tune of the popular song ‘Sar jo tera chakraaye’; his father included it in the soundtrack of Guru Dutt’s Pyaasa (1957).
