We won’t really dive into the debate of it being good or bad, Twilight Saga is definitely iconic and we all can shake hands on that. Lionsgate, now, is planning to expand the vampire romance franchise and give it a new twist.
Twilight won’t be alone in the journey as the studio will make an attempt to do something ‘exciting’ with the John Wick franchise.
As per the recent plans, a series on Twilight will be the center of attraction in the way ahead for the studio. Especially when you consider the cult-like fanbase, Lionsgate definitely took a safe decision.
Even Michael Burns, the VC, stated, “We’re going to go out with the Twilight series, an animated series, I think there’ll be a lot of interest in that.”
Last April, news leaked about Lionsgate’s early development of an animated Twilight series, and the recent set of events just solidified the past rumors. Several sources also state that from the very initial state, it was supposed to be an animation from the very beginning.
Talking about the success of the series, based on Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight, the entire film series, containing five films had a budget of $401M and grossed $3.4B.
The film series, from 2008-2012, though it was hit with abysmal critic reviews and responses, was definitely loved by a huge number of fans and that should be the heartbeat of entertainment, not everything has to be critically pleasing neither the less.
