Star Anthony Mackie has confirmed that Peacock’s Twisted Metal has been renewed for Season 2. He made the announcement at the recently held Game Awards 2023. One of the showrunners, Michael Jonathan Smith, has thanked the fans for the show’s renewal while also teasing possible storylines that may become a part of the upcoming entry.
“We are far beyond thankful we get to continue the story of John Doe, Quiet, and Sweet Tooth as they face off against familiar faces and new grim foes in the long-awaited Twisted Metal tournament. The mixtape is made, and I’m thrilled to get back on the road with our stellar cast and crew,” Smith said.
The first season did not show the actual Twisted Metal tournament, which was a bit of a letdown. But Smith’s recent comments have confirmed that fans will witness a bloody and action-packed titular tournament in the upcoming season. Also, Raven (Neve Campbell) mentioned the name of Calypso in the first season’s finale. The latter is responsible for creating the tournament in the video game series. And he may emerge as the primary antagonist in the sophomore instalment.
Moreover, Dollface’s connection with John’s family seems intriguing and may receive abundant attention in Season 2. We should expect John to reunite with his long-lost sister, Dollface, in the next season. However, it is hard to say if viewers will witness a happy family reunion or watch Dollface attempting to take revenge on John for leaving her alone nearly 20 years ago. On the other hand, John’s persona may change as well. He may gain maturity and learn to act like a proper adult.
In addition, Agent Stone will return too. Nah, he is not dead. Yes, we did see him holding a gun to his head in Season 1, but he did not pull the trigger, as that scene ended midway.
We are yet to get a release window for Twisted Metal Season 2. But you can stream the first season on Sony LIV. It stars Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Seanoa, Will Arnett, Thomas Haden Church, and more. Stay tuned for more updates.
