‘Scam 1992 – The Harshad Mehta Story’ has been streaming on Sony LIV for three days now (since its release on October 9th) and the web-series has been receiving praise on social media, twitter in particular. The show, direction, cinematography and script have all been commended by all those who watched it, but the acting has been glorified at another level, by twitterati.
And the person getting most of these laurels has been the lead actor, Pratik Gandhi. His performance has been praised by many and most people are recommending others to watch the series, just to see his acting. Primarily working in the Gujarati theater and film industries, this role has given the actor a proper foothold into the Mumbai-based Bollywood one. Twitter has been noticeably excited and are expecting this bright new star to create waves with his new found recognition.
The 10-part mini-series is a fictionalised story of the real life Harshad Mehta who orchestrated a stock market scam so large, it caused the entire Indian stock market to crash. This was the largest market scam to take place in India and it took place in Mumbai in the year 1992. While working on the character, Pratik approached the role without any bias, so as to put up a believable performance.
Harshad Mehta was a passionate man, had a lot of guts and he always aimed at getting into the “big games with the big players”, said Pratik. He was never afraid as he continued to attempt whatever wild things he could dream off. Pratik eventually settled on a mixture of two main characteristics to play the titular character – ego and confidence. And according to the twitter followers who have been trending the hashtag, #Scam1992 it has worked extremely well. Here are some the tweets lauding the Gujarati actor:
