Shershaah, Sidharth Malhotra’s much-awaited war biopic finally dropped last night at 12 on Amazon Prime Video. Fans have been super excited ever since the news about the movie coming to Amazon Prime Video was out. Also, going with the story of Captain Vikram Batra, the hero on whom “Shershaah” is based, we can imagine why. Shershaah has made quite a buzz during its promotions, but the cherry on the cake was witnessed yesterday.
The cherry we are talking about at the moment is the fact “Shershaah” has been trending and topping the charts since yesterday and trust us when we say that it is a big deal. After Salman Khan’s “Radhe” and “Toofaan”, Shershaah was the next big Bollywood flick to release online and after whatever happened with “Radhe”, fans were excited for “Shershaah”. Usually, Amazon Prime Video drops the movie a bit early to attain more viewers, but yesterday that wasn’t the case. The movie was released on the platform at midnight and by the looks of it, it didn’t affect the movie, even an inch.
Hashtags for the movie #Shershaah, #SidharthMalhotra were on the trending list hours before the release of the movie. Fans were expecting the movie early, but that didn’t but that still didn’t stop them from watching the movie just when it was released. Tweets were all over Twitter, asking Amazon for an update as to when shall it drop, tweets about how they are awake to witness the movie, were making rounds on social media, and trust us, it was a beauty to see that.
Fans have been dying for a good Bollywood movie and Radhe was amongst the first to release on OTT after the 2nd wave lockdown, then came “Toofaan”. All these movies saw its craze, but we don’t think so the craze was as much as what “Shershaah” has received. The movie right now is trending and topping the charts for more than 12 hours, continuously without. That in itself is a huge deal. Also, there have been quite some talks as to how the movie would have done if it was released in theatres, given the situations were normal. We believe the movie would have done a great first-day job at the box office and given the timing, it was sure to pick up more from Independence Day weekend.
Also, not to mention that this movie was kind of a return for Sidharth Malhotra. The last few movies starring Sidharth weren’t received well at the box office and also by the critics, so definitely “Shershaah” was like a redemption point for him and we believe he made his comeback a strong and valid one. But, then again this isn’t about the comebacks and whatnots, these were about telling the story of “Shershaah”, the Kargil hero Captain Batra, his life, his sacrifice, and most importantly the need and want to protect his motherland at all costs.
The reviews for Shershaah are already in and we feel if you are reading this, you might have already watched it, but if not, we hope we encouraged you enough to watch the movie now, at the least.
