It was on December 2 that the Korean thriller ‘The Witch: Part 2. The Other One‘ was supposed to start streaming for the Indian audience on Prime Video. And no, it wasn’t an educated guess or rumour floating around. It was announced by the movie’s Indian presenters- director Luv Ranjan’s Luv Films and Star Entertainment along with Prime Video India. And nearly two weeks later, the film is finally available for streaming.
The movie despite all this drama still has quite a decent bit of buzz around it mostly attributable to the unprecedented success garnered by its prequel ‘The Witch: Part 1. Subversion‘. The former does not have much going on with the latter; hence, if you want to watch the second one before the first one, you won’t be missing much plot content but having said that, we suggest you don’t. The prequel sets the theme of the franchise quite nicely and adds that unexplainable magic to the experience.
‘The Witch: Part 2. The Other One’ packs as many kicks as its predecessor. At the start of the film, we see the protagonist who emerges as the sole survivor of a bloody raid on the research facility behind the top-secret Witch program be saved by two civilians, who take her home to heal. But what comes afterwards is what gets the viewers to sit up straight and watch. With impeccable action set pieces and well-written characters on either side of the blood bath, the reveals regarding the protagonist are horrendous and gloriously fun in equal measure.
The movie is now streaming on Prime Video in English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Korean audio with English subtitles. The prequel ‘The Witch: Part 1. Subversion’ is also available on Prime Video. One of those movies that started off slow but at the end left us mindblown and begging for more, and the second movie had big shoes to fill. And in its own way, it did exactly that. And no biggie but yeah, it also stars one of Korea’s biggest names and ‘Big Mouth’ star Lee Jong-suk. Excited yet?
