Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya, the next film from the stable of Baahubali makers will be streaming on Netflix from July 15th. The movie is skipping its theatrical release and is coming online directly. However, the high drama took place before finalizing the Streaming Rights Deal.
The makers have sold the rights for 12 Crore earlier to Netflix with a condition that it can be streamed 45 days after its theatrical release. But Corona Pandemic changed it all and the movie could not release in theaters. So, they thought of a way to cover the loss.
Instead of the theatrical run, they struck a deal for a 45 days window with Allu Aravind’s Aha for 6 Crore. So, they can make 18 Crore (6 Crore from Aha and 12 Crore from Netflix). When Aha is gearing up to begin the publicity, Netflix sent a legal notice stating that it can not happen that way.
Finally, Aha backed off from the deal and got their advance returned from the makers. Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya Team had to commit to the Netflix deal and the movie’s Worldwide Online Premiere is going to happen on the 15th of this month. Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya is the official remake of Malayalam movie Maheshinte Prathikaram.
