Unbearable JioHotstar Glitches Push Users to the Edge

Nearly four months have passed since the merger between JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar, which led to the emergence of JioHotstar for Indian viewers. Despite promising a great viewing experience and offering a plethora of diverse content, there are still some noticeable technical issues that continue to plague the prominent OTT platform. One of the most frustrating among them is the platform’s recurring audio glitches.

A large number of users have raised concerns about poor audio quality or frequent audio glitches while watching their favourite content on JioHotstar. These issues surfaced prominently during the live stream of the 2025 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final match between Australia and South Africa.

A similar issue was reported by users while watching Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2. The most common complaint is that the audio and video often go out of sync, particularly on Android devices and JioFiber set-top boxes. This forces viewers to close the app and reopen it just to get smooth playback.

Technical glitches like these, especially during major live events or new releases, can significantly damage user trust in JioHotstar. These are high-traffic moments when maximum engagement and scrutiny are expected. Failures during such times fuel dissatisfaction, spark negative word-of-mouth, and risk turning loyal viewers away.

Persistent issues like these also signal that the merger hasn’t yet translated into better performance for JioHotstar.

Viewers today expect 4K content with seamless streaming and high-quality audio. If the platform can’t meet those expectations—even after combining the resources of two major players—it stands to lose market share. Stay tuned for more updates.
