Uncanny Similarities With This Show Will Force You To Watch ‘Sweet Tooth’!

Sweet Tooth – the newest fantasy drama show based on DC comics has already created a buzz around the Netflix lovers for it’s pandemic related theme and the emotional depth.

But now, if we watch the show closely we can relate the show with another renowned adventure content which will make Sweet Tooth an extremely adorable and interesting series. But before relating the show with anything else first, let us check what we know about the new series on Netflix. Sweet Tooth revolves around an orphan human-deer hybrid who is lost in a pandemic stricken dystopian world, where a number of humans are haunting these hybrids to find a cure for the pandemic. Now, the human-deer hybrid, Gus has embarked on a journey to find his long lost mother, protected by Tommy Jepperd, a traveler and reformed Last Man. Sweet Tooth was originally written and drawn by Canadian Jeff Lemire and published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint in 2009.

So, if we watch it closely, we can see the show is quite similar to The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. In Jungle Book, we see that Mowgli, a human kid who was left alone in the Jungle was protected by wolves, a Panther and a Bear, learnt gradually to adapt himself to the hostile environment of Jungle. In Sweet Tooth, the same thing happens when the human-deer hybrid 10-years old Gus was left alone in the jungle after his father died. He also tried to adapt with the conditions by the lessons taught by his father and befriends a large human being just like Mowgli befriends Bagheera and Baloo, the Panther and the bear.

Also the first episode gives a hint of a pandemic stricken world impacted by H5G9 virus also known as ‘The Sick’. Every single person can relate to that right now, that to the COVID-19 pandemic around the world. This makes the show more relatable and a heartwarming story to watch.

Sweet Tooth went live last Friday on 4th June and opened to fantastic reviews. It stars Christian Convery as Gus aka Sweet Tooth,

Nonso Anozie of GoT fame as Tommy Jepperd along with Adeel Akhtar, Stefania LaVie Owen, Dania Ramirez, Aliza Vellani, Will Forte as Pubba, Gus’ father and Amy Seimetz as Birdie who Gus believe is his long lost mother. James Brolin, father of Josh Brolin, has narrated the show.

Developed by Jim Mickle, we strongly recommend this new, adorable and refreshing Jungle Book styled & DC comics based series and we bet you won’t regret embarking on this adventure with Gus and Tommy.
