Under-the-Rock Streamer Nears Netflix India In Subscriber Count

Whenever we talk about streaming platforms then we get 5-6 prominent names in India. Disney+Hotstar, Netflix India, Prime Video, Zee5, SonyLIV and these days even JioCinema.

We assume that these big players are the only players but reality can’t be farther from that. Platforms like Ullu, ALT Balaji and more are not only surviving but thriving because they have the necessary support from people. One such “not so popular” OTT platform is Airtel Xstream Play.

Airtel Xstream Play, a video streaming service by Bharti Airtel, reached 5 million paid subscribers in October. They are now aiming to reach 20 million subscribers because more people want easy access to bundled services.

We usually have four to five streaming apps on our phones, but we usually pay for less than three of them. Airtel noticed this and created Xstream Play to make things easier. With this app, you can watch shows and movies from many different services without needing to log in multiple times. It’s like having a single key for many doors. Airtel shares money with the companies that provide these shows and movies based on what people like to watch. So, it’s a win-win for everyone!

Airtel mentioned that people are really enjoying a diverse range of shows, movies, and sports content on their platform. Almost half of the time spent on the platform is dedicated to series like “Scam 2003” and “Scam 1992.” Movies come next, with about 37% of the time, especially regional hits like “Carry on Jatta” in Punjabi, “Por Thozhil” in Tamil, and “Voice of Sathyanathan” in Malayalam. People seem to be loving these choices!

Do you know how many subscribers Netflix India has? Well, according to some estimates, they have about 6 million subscribers. Well, Airtel Xstream Play is very very near a giant such as Netflix India. It is a remarkable achievement and shows how people are in search of aggregated OTT bundles rather than having the trouble of paying each and every OTT platform separately.
