Gurgaon, 2017 (Streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar)
When the daughter (Ragini Khanna) and lucky charm of an affluent businessman (Pankaj Tripathi) returns home after completing her studies, her father’s biasedness towards her irks the business tycoon’s son (Akshay Oberoi). So, the jealous brother makes a dangerous plan with unanticipated consequences.
Aamir, 2008 (Streaming on Google Play, YouTube – Rent)
The rather underappreciated thriller follows a doctor named Aamir (played by Rajeev Khandelwal), who lands in Mumbai from London. But as soon as he reaches the city, he is blackmailed and dragged into a dangerous terrorist plot where he must carry a mysterious suitcase and follows telephonic orders from an unknown man.
The Stoneman Murders, 2009 (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)
The movie is a fictionalized account ostensibly based on the real-life Stoneman serial killings of footpath dwellers that happened in the 1980s. The film features proficient actor Kay Kay Menon in the role of a suspended cop who investigates the murders. Helmed by Manish Gupta, the movie also featured Arbaaz Khan, Rukhsar Rehman and Virendra Saxena in important roles.
Ugly, 2013 (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, Lionsgate Play)
The dark and disturbing thriller revolves around the kidnapping of a ten-year-old girl of a divorced couple. The film starts off with the girl getting kidnapped from the car of her biological father (Rahul Bhat), who is a struggling actor. The kidnapping case is investigated by the girl’s stepfather and senior cop (Ronit Roy). In a race against time to find the missing girl, the character’s darker sides are revealed during the investigation. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the movie also features Vineet Kumar Singh and Tejaswini Kolhapure in pivotal roles.
