Unnecessary Complex App Experience on Prime Video

Needless to say, Prime Video must have made a lot of money from their Rental Store. Also very needless to state the fact that people have hated this right from the very beginning. In the name of early access, the platform charges as high as ₹399 for only renting the movie. On top of that, you pay that charge if you already have a regular Prime Video subscription. So, it’s a sort of two way money magnet for Prime Video.

Regardless, in the good old days, you could directly view the price at which a particular film was being rented. Usually, the price ranged between ₹199 to ₹399 based on the buzz of the film.

But, what’s the condition now? You can’t view the price.

Yes, see for yourself.

Earlier, they used to show the prices but now, it is not the case on Android devices. When you click on “How do I watch this?” then you are mailed with details of the pricing. We ask, why?

What’s the utility of troubling the users?

Other things where Amazon is playing with words are the ads. The platform puts ads and when they are confronted their internal “Harvey Specter” comes into play.

Don’t believe us?

Again, see for yourself.

How ridiculous is that? Ads are ads, no matter what Amazon Prime Video chooses to call it. The users don’t care whether they are seeing Content Promotional Ads or Advertisement Ads. All they care about is a seamless binge watching experience that they are not getting.

The UI of Prime Video is getting more and more complex and for no reason at all. What do you all think?
