USA Is Still Showing Love For Indian Films in Q1

The British were the ones who managed to colonize the nation for some masala, but Americans possess a very different point of view regarding this. USA audiences seek it in Indian movies, and that is extremely prominent in their taste in international films.

Last year, the US showcased a distinct affinity for Asian films, with a major emphasis on Japanese and Indian films. India gifted the nation films such as “Pathaan” and “Jawaan,” synonymous with complete entertainment. Even “Animal” was there.

And this year, the trend isn’t indifferent.

Talking about the most recent weekend, there are two Indian films in the top 10 charts of the USA box office. “Tillu Square” and “Crew” managed to get a hold of the domestic market in the USA.

“Tillu Square” grossed $1.8M at the box office, and “Crew” followed with a solid $1.5M, occupying the eighth and ninth places in the charts. But this isn’t the end of it.

Previously, “Fighter” also had a good run. During its opening week, the film grossed the $3.7M mark, and its lifetime collection exceeded $5M in the market.

Titles like “Guntur Kaaram” had a good opening at the box office as well, opening with $2.3M, a proper entertainment fest. This trend is also followed by “Shaitaan” as the film opened with $775k, though it stumbled, managing to find a place in the top 10.

Now, keeping some big titles in mind, the USA will have more Indian films in the near future. It’s an exciting time for fans. From a big-budget fest like “Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan” to the sports drama “Maidaan,” these might find their place in the upcoming box office.
