Probably the most awaited film of the year, Kantara has finally been released on Prime Video. Although there are a lot of problems in the same, the most prominent among them is the removal of the very soul of the film.
We are talking about Varaha Roopam. The song was extremely popular and served as an exceptional experience while watching the movie in the theaters. Although watching any film on OTT is never the same as a good theater, the case is even worse here.
Although no fault of Prime Video, Kantara doesn’t feel the same without Varaha Roopam. There is an issue with Varaha Roopam.
After the song gained insane popularity among the audience, a Kerala-based band filed an infringement of copyright on the makers of Kantara. Thaikkudam Bridge, the band not only took the issue to their Instagram but also the court.
The complaint in Kozhikode District Court injuncted the makers to play it in theaters and streaming services as it is inspired by Navarasam by the band. So after the court’s order, Hombale films was ultimately forced to take down the song from their movie. That’s why Varaha Roopam is not featured in the digital version released on Prime Video. That’s the reason the Varaha Roopam song was ultimately removed from the official YouTube channel too.
But people and their emotion with Varaha Roopam is not a subject of the legal battle. There is a widespread rage and disappointment amongst them after the removal of the song. Some of them are even talking about pirating the film for the older version but it is not only unethical but also a criminal offence.
Perhaps it won’t bring any result but fans are pissed off nonetheless.
#KantaraOnPrime no #varaharoopam song?!?! Robbing us of the genuine experience!! @shetty_rishab @hombalefilms @VKiragandur should we go back to the theatre again?
