Auckland-based movies-centric social platform Letterboxd houses an international list of the top 50 movies which have been released so far in the year 2023. And now, another Indian film has cracked the Letterboxd top 50 narrative movies list (excluding documentaries). The Indian film is none other than Vetrimaaran’s latest directorial outing ‘Viduthalai Part 1’.
‘Viduthalai Part 1’ is not just another film to be included in the Letterboxd international movies list, but the critically acclaimed Indian movie has cracked the coveted list in a big way. Currently, the film holds a highly impressive Rank 6 on the top 50 Letterboxd movies list.
The Letterboxd top 50 narrative films list 2023 has been topped by the romantic drama movie ‘Past Lives’ (Rank 1) followed by Keanu Reeves’ blockbuster action extravaganza ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ (Rank 2).
Written and directed by Vetrimaaran, ‘Viduthalai Part 1’ is a period crime thriller movie which follows the story of an upright and righteous police driver Kumareson (played by Soori). After a deadly train bombing, the newly recruited police constable becomes a part of a mission called ‘Operation Ghosthunt’ to capture Perumal Vaathiyar (Vijay Sethupathi) – the leader of the revolutionary group which is allegedly responsible for the bombing.
After its theatrical release on 31st March, ‘Viduthalai Part 1’ was unanimously admired by critics and garnered loads of positive reviews. The movie currently holds a superb IMDb user rating of 8.5/10. Moreover, on movie ticketing website BookMyShow, the movie has received a score of 9.3/10.
After its theatrical run, ‘Viduthalai Part 1’ will start streaming on the Zee5 OTT platform. It is being said that the OTT version of ‘Viduthalai Part 1’ will be rather different from its theatrical version. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on the same.
