Viacom18 Acquires Media Rights For Women’s IPL, Check Details Here

Viacom18 has acquired the media rights for the Women’s IPL. BCCI revealed that they will have the media rights for year 2023 to the year 2027. The company bought the rights for the WIPL for a whopping 951 crores of rupees.

Viacom18 also has the rights for the men’s Indian Premiere League. The men’s IPL has a high place in the world of sports and to be able to stream it on TV and digitally is a great achievement for a platform. Disney had the TV and streaming rights for the IPL for five seasons after Viacom18 bought the streaming rights for about 24 thousand crores of rupees, while Disney only has the TV rights of IPL.

Disney was one of the highest bidders this time too but Viacom18 got the better of every other bidders and each match is valued about 7 crores for five years. Voot Select is the OTT platform that will be streaming the WIPL and the platform is owned by Viacom18.

This will be the first ever women’s IPL and it will commence from March this year and it is going to be a very important step towards the growth of women’s cricket in India. The women’s cricket team has impressed fans with their massive wins internationally and audiences and sports authorities as well wanted to have women’s version of the Indian Premiere League from a long time.
