The release date for Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Maharaja’ is out now. The film will be coming out on the 14th of June this year. The trailer was released a few days back and it is now one of the most hyped Tamil movies to release this year. It is Sethupathi’s 50th movie and Anurag Kashyap collaborates with the actor for the first time, but as a co-actor and not a director.
Vijay Sethupathi, with his wide range of script choices, has grown to be one of the most loved actors in India right now and his golden jubilee film is going to be very special for the fans. Anurag Kashyap’s comeback is one more exciting thing. Probably he will be playing the role of the antagonist. Apart from Sethupathi and Kashyap, the movie also stars Sudhan Sundaram, Natty, Bharathiraja, Abhirami, Mamta Mohandas etc.
The trailer was quite interesting. Vijay Sethupathi plays a regular and simple salon-keeper named Maharaja who comes to the police station to complain that ‘Lakshmi’ has been stolen from the shop. The police ask Sethupathi whether it is an idol of Lakshmi (the goddess of wealth) or actual money, Maharaja denies both. When they ask him if it is his sister, mother or wife, he denies again. The police become suspicious of him and do not believe him anymore. Maharaja braces up for a bloody fight and some top-notch action is shown.
The movie is written and directed by Nithilan Saminathan and produced under the banner of Passion Studios and The Route. The music of the movie is composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath and the cinematography is handled by Dinesh Purushothaman. Vijay Sethupathi and crime dramas is a match made in heaven, and Maharaja seems to be another feather in the cap of Makkal Selvan. The movie is hitting the theaters on the 14th of June.
