Vijay Sethupathi’s Family Film ‘Mugizh’ To Hit Screens Tomorrow

Another Vijay Sethupathi film is all set to hit theatres tomorrow, the 8th of October. After ruling the month of September with a string of releases, comes a Tamil children’s film ‘Mugizh‘, that marks the acting debut of his daughter, Sreeja. Directed by debutant Karthik S, ‘Mugizh’ is a 62-minute-long children’s film with a realistic approach, bankrolled by Vijay Sethupathi under his banner, Vijay Sethupathi Productions. Also starring Vijay Sethupathi himself and Regina Cassandra in the lead, the plot revolves around a young, 12-year-old girl, her family and their pet beagle.

‘Mugizh’ was earlier to be a web film, but the makers then decided to screen it in theatres. The first official teaser of the film just dropped earlier this week and it is heartwarming to say the least. The teaser sets the tone of the film right at the onset, opening with their pet beagle, Scooby, picking up a fight with a street dog while going for a walk with Sreeja’s character. The scene then shifts to Vijay Sethupathi, first reprimanding and then cajoling the dog for his actions. All in all, a perfect feel good family film much needed during these times.

While ‘Mugizh’ is all set to hit screens, Sethupathi’s other release, director Vignesh Shivan’s ‘Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal’ also featuring Nayanthara and Samantha in the lead, is looking at a direct-to-OTT release on Disney+Hotstar. Post a string of unsuccessful OTT releases for actor Sethupathi, this much-awaited love story has generated enough buzz and has the potential to turn the tide for him as far as the digital space is concerned. Although no official announcement has been made yet regarding the platform, one is expected soon. Meanwhile, head over to theatres to catch ‘Mugizh’, releasing on October 8.
