Vikram’s ‘Thangalaan’ Trailer Disappoints, Looks Amateurish

Makers have unveiled the trailer for Vikram’s much awaited upcoming film ‘Thangalaan’ but it fails to create much enthusiasm. Helmed by Pa Ranjith, ‘Thangalaan’ will release in theatres on 15th August, 2024 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.

‘Thangalaan’ trailer shows how during the British rule native people are lured and hired to mine gold but the task is no less than suicide and not because of the arduous nature of the job but because of the presence of ghosts and monsters in the area. Turns out a sorceress named Aarathi is killing anyone who tries to mine gold and while some believe her to be just a myth, one man decides to take her down at any cost.

The trailer disappoints with its poor VFX that looks amateurish at best. Moreover, the premise doesn’t create any excitement either. The action sequences also fail to make much of an impact. The only saving grace seems to be Vikram’s performance but that too isn’t enough to hold ‘Thangalaan’ trailer together.

Inspired from true events ‘Thangalaan’ is a period drama that revolves around the lives of mine workers in the Kolar Gold Fields, Karnataka. The film marks first such collaboration between actor Vikram and director Pa Ranjith.

In addition to Vikram, ‘Thangalaan’ also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathi, Harikrishnan Anbudurai, Preeti Karan and Muthukumar among others.

‘Thangalaan’ is produced by K E Gnanavel Raja with Neha Gnanavel Raja serving as co-producer. The film is a G V Prakash Kumar musical and the production companies behind the film are Studio Green and Neelam Productions. ‘Thangalaan’ will release in theatres on 15th August, 2024 inTamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.

‘Thangalaan’ will clash with John Abraham’s ‘Vedaa’, Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao’s ‘Stree 2’ and Akshay Kumar’s ’Khel Khel Mein’. The good news is that the big face-off with Allu Arjun’s ’Pushpa’ isn’t going to be there as the film has moved its release date to 6th December, 2024.
