‘Mirzapur’ Actor Vikrant Massey’s next film ‘Forensic’ is a mystery-thriller and the official Hindi remake of the 2020 Malayalam film of the same name. As per a recent announcement, the makers have disclosed that the film would be helmed by Vishal Furia, who had earlier directed the prison-courtroom-drama ‘Criminal Justice’ (2019) featuring Vikrant Massey, Pankaj Tripathi, and Jackie Shroff. The film will reportedly go on floors very soon.
Although the film’s precise plot and the leading lady are still not known, it was revealed that the Hindi adaptation, which is being scripted by Vishal Kapoor, will be in accordance with the sensibilities of a pan-India audience. Vishal Kapoor, who is a self-professed fan of the mystery-thriller genre and the genre-maestro David Fincher (Director – Seven, Zodiac, Gone Girl) wants to give ‘Forensic’ an edge-of-the-seat thriller treatment.
The original Malayalam film ‘Forensic’ follows a forensic expert (Tovino Thomas), who used his skills to catch the culprit responsible for the serial killings of children in the capital city of Kerala.
It’s a well-known fact that we rarely get to see a forensic officer as the main protagonist, especially in Indian films. Although a recently released web series ‘Asur’, starring ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ actor Arshad Warsi and famed TV actor ‘Barun Sobti’, was centered around two brilliant but antithetical forensic CBI Officers, who investigate seemingly unrelated murders by a genius but delusional serial killer. But content like this is sparsely made.
It would be interesting to see Vikrant Massey in the aforementioned role. He has time and again proved his acting mettle in several films and TV shows such as ‘Mirzapur’, ‘Criminal Justice’ and ‘Cargo’ and we are hopeful that he will deliver again. Vikrant Massey’s upcoming projects are Santosh Sivan’s ‘Mumbaikar’ (also starring Vijay Sethupathi) and Vinil Mathews’ ‘Haseen Dillruba’ (also starring Taapsee Pannu).
