The Telugu supernatural horror movie ‘Virupaksha’, which was released in theatres last month, has now officially locked its release date on OTT. The digital rights for the film were acquired by Netflix. And now, it has just been revealed that the movie starring Sai Dharam Tej and Samyuktha Menon is all set to start streaming on the Netflix OTT platform from 21st May, that is, from coming Sunday onwards. Whether the film will be available in other languages also, is currently not known.
Helmed by Karthik Varma Dandu, ‘Virupaksha’ takes place in a village called Rudravanam and is set during the 1990s period. The story revolves around some mysterious and unexplained deaths happening in the village because of occult practices by some person. The protagonist Surya visits his ancestral village and tries to unearth the mystical secrets in order to save the village before it’s too late.
Besides Sai Dharam Tej and Samtuktha Menon in the lead roles, ‘Virupaksha’ also features Sunil, Rajeev Kanakala, Brahmaji, Ajay and Ravi Krishna in important roles.
After its theatrical release, ‘Virupaksha’ received rave reviews from critics and was appreciated by the audiences as well. Many aspects such as the film’s story, cinematography, direction, and the lead preferences were admired. Moreover, on movie ticketing portal BookMyShow, ‘Virupaksha’ has got a highly impressive appreciation score of 9.3/10. The movie performed well at the box office too.
