Voir is available to stream on Netflix. This is being marketed as visual essays. Quite obviously they are a lot different from the essays we used to write for our academic purposes.
Unlike words, visual essays use visuals to convey the information. This is very different from a normal feature film. Surprisingly, it is not even a complete documentary. This is a new kind of cinema that targets a niche audience who are cinephiles.
It is about the cinematic experience of great directors and filmmakers and how they create different kinds of cinema.
Voir in French means “to see”. This series is something like that only. It tells us how we see what filmmakers want to make us see.
David Fincher is serving as the executive producer. Hi and a bunch of journalists analyse a film from multiple perspectives. They are a lot different from what you find on YouTube channels. As those who are narrating it, are filmmakers and critics themselves.
The series is a 6 episode compilation in which each one runs for about 20 minutes.
Name of the episodes is down below:-
Summer Of The Shark
The Ethics Of Revenge
But I Don’t Like Him
The Duality Of Appeal
Film Vs Television
Profane And Profound
This series can be extremely useful for those learning the art of cinema. And for those who just appreciate it, this new kind of series is a worthy investment.
