Voot Select Getting Ready To Launch Surprise Direct-To-OTT Event!

There is some brilliant news heading your way. The Indian OTT platform, Voot Select, is planning to launch a surprise direct-to-OTT Film Festival in India, next month. This is definitely the type of event one should look forward to, especially if you are a movie buff who is stuck at home due to the second wave of the coronavirus. This online festival will feature 15 critically acclaimed films over an 8-day span and this event will only feature Indian movies.

Most parts of the country are either under lockdown or under heavy restrictions with many states setting after-dark curfew. Weekends are even worse, with states like Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu implementing heavy Covid-19 restrictions during those two days, making it very hard for many to get a decent day off. At such a time, when a major chunk of the Indian population is essentially under house arrest, this spontaneous online film festival by Voot Select is a refreshing change.

This upcoming Voot Select film festival will showcase hand-picked movies featuring brilliant actors such as Vidya Balan, Neena Gupta, Amit Sial, Chunky Pandey and Esha Deol, to name a few. Honouring the most diverse filmmakers in the country, Voot Select has decided to take 15 films of multiple genres, which will challenge/ question “regular everyday social norms”. These include LGBTQ relationships, domestic abuse, female infanticide, broken families and much, much more. With a focus to bring forward realistic stories inspired from true stories, these films will tackle the “issues of today” – featuring India through an unfiltered lens.

With many of us stuck with the daily routine of work (either from home or office) and then staying home to stay safe, TV and OTT will surely have lost its charm by now. This festival, regardless of the movie genres, is interesting enough for people to get interested in. Similar to how Netflix recently released their week long “Geeked” event, we can expect this Film festival to garner traction online, real soon.
