Benedict Cumberbatch has landed the ideal role to suit his persona perfectly – that of a magic-wielding warrior who helps beat Nazis with his illusory tricks. The film is titled “War Magician”, and there are some exciting new developments around it. Colin Trevorrow, the director of the upcoming “Jurassic World: Dominion” has been signed on to helm the film. Treverrow is currently working on the post production of Jurassic World: Dominion, after which he will immediately start off on War Magician.
War Magician and Benedict Cumberbatch’s casting in it had been announced way back in 2015. But the film has been on the back-burner since then. Now, however, things seem to have picked up pace on the War Magician front, owing to Trevorrow’s appointment as its director. War Magician is being adapted from of David Fisher’s novel, “The War Magician”.
It tells the story of a real-life magician, Jasper Maskelyne, who used his magic to score wins against the Nazis in World War II. He created large-scale ruses, deception, and camouflage in an effort to defeat the Nazis. Apparently, he even made the Suez Canal disappear once.
Benedict Cumberbatch’s casting as the magic-wielding warrior is perfect for his persona. His deep intelligence, ability to effortlessly slip into the psyche of characters that are both clever and quirky, and his exceptional screen presence make War Magician an intriguing and thrilling proposition.
