The Bengali film industry is not quite hyped as the other industries in India. But that does not mean that there are not many good films in Bengali. This industry has given wonderful films that are quite a contribution to Indian cinema. This Diwali enjoy these few films with your friends and family.

Rasogolla(2018)- Disney+Hotstar

Rasogolla is directed by young talent Pavel and tells the story of a sweetmaker who invents one of the most iconic sweets of Bengal- the ‘Rasogolla’. Ujaan Ganguly plays the lead character. The songs and the visuals are awesome.

Chokher Bali(2003)- Disney+Hotstar

‘Chokher Bali’ is a classic retelling of Rabindranath Tagore’s famous romance of the same name. It is directed by the maestro Rituparno Ghosh and brought international fame. It is studded with wonderful performances from Aishwarya Rai, Raima Sen, Prasenjit Chatterjee.

The Japanese Wife(2010)- Amazon Prime Video

‘The Japanese Wife’ tells the story of an unusual relationship between a Bengali man and his pen friend, a Japanese girl. Rahul Bose and Chigusa Takaku play the lead. Make sure to watch this movie if you are a fan of romantic drama.

Jaatishwar(2014)- Amazon Prime Video

Directed by ace director Srijit Mukherjee ‘Jaatishwar’ tells the story of a simple man who suddenly discovers that he was the famous Bengali folk poet who came from Portugal, Hensman Anthony in his previous life. It is a wonderfully created movie and the beauty of the songs is beyond imagination.

Hemlock Society(2012)- Disney+Hotstar

Another masterpiece from Srijit Mukherjee is ‘Hemlock Society’ starring Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Koel Mallick. It tells the story of a strange society that is made for apparently helping people commit suicide. Koel’s character after a heartbreaking breakup goes to the society and realises it does something else.
