Marvel has bestowed numerous box office sensations through the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Yes, the MCU has come under the radar of many fans due to some of its ‘not so impressive’ recently released projects. But the superhero franchise has not lost its worth at all. One of the MCU movies that have contributed significantly towards the franchise’s success is Avengers: Age of Ultron.
AOU does not get the respect it deserves. Yes, it does look a bit overstuffed in terms of storylines. But it also serves as a wonderful, action-packed, and worthy sequel to the first Avengers flick (2012).
In Age of Ultron, tech genius Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) tries to create a strong AI for maintaining global peace and protecting the planet from extraterrestrial threats. He also receives the support of Bruce Banner (aka Hulk) in this process. However, things turn upside down after Ultron gains self-consciousness, which forces him to realise that the Avengers are the real reason behind the chaos and destruction on Earth. We see the Avengers battling with Ultron and his robots in Sokovia in the climax, a scenario that tests the faction’s power and unity.
AOU excels in terms of visual effects, action sequences, the cast’s performances (particularly James Spader’s voice performance as Ultron), and character development. It was a huge box office success, earning over $1.4 billion at the global box office during its theatrical run. Over the years, the film has received a dedicated fanbase. Overall, it provides a highly exciting and emotional watching experience to viewers.
