Disney+ Hotstar is set to be devoid of all the HBO content from 1st April, 2023 and before that happens there are some shows that you shouldn’t miss out on. Our today’s recommendation is one such crime drama miniseries from HBO that is available on Disney+ Hotstar and won’t take much of your time.
We are talking about the much acclaimed American show ‘The Night Of’, a miniseries based on the first season 2008 British series ‘Criminal Justice’. The series is created and written by Richard Price and Steven Zaillian and won huge critical and public acclaim.
‘The Night Of’ follows the story of Nasir Khan, a college student of Pakistani descent in the US. After a night of partying with a woman he picked up, he wakes up to find her stabbed to death and is charged with her murder.
The show chronicles his journey as he tries to prove his innocence while facing the rigorous criminal justice system and prison life alongside showcasing how it affects his family and friends. ‘The Night Of’ also deals with issues like race and socio-economic conditions.
Recipient of 13 Emmy nominations ‘The Night Of’ has a very deep and nuanced plot, with excellent character building. The series stars Riz Ahmed, John Turturro, Bill Camp, Payman Maddi, Poorna Jagannathan and Sofia Black-D’Elia among others. Riz Ahmed also won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Leas Actor in a Limited Series for the show.
