Anna Kendrick is well-known for her comedic roles. But praising her only based on her comedic performances is wrong. She has bestowed many versatile performances as well, often portraying complex and relatable characters in her dramatic projects. Her first big project was Twilight (2008), in which she starred opposite Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. However, she gained global prominence for her performances in the critically acclaimed film, Up in the Air (2009), starring George Clooney and Vera Farmiga. She has starred in several enjoyable flicks, including Pitch Perfect (2012). And we strongly recommend you to watch this one if you are looking for a raunchy and outrageously hilarious comedy!
Kendrick plays Beca Mitchell, an introverted but rebellious freshman who is persuaded to audition for her university’s A Cappella group, the Barden Bellas. After a shaky start, she gets selected and starts to get along with other members of her group. However, she finds it difficult to connect with the group’s uptight leader, Aubrey.
The Bellas’ ultimate goal is to win the Nationals by defeating their arch-rivals, the Treblemakers, an all-male A Cappella group. But Beca complicates the situation after displaying her romantic interest in Jesse, one of the members of the Treblemakers.
Beca’s group faces several setbacks before it approaches the final competition. What happens to the group? Watch the movie to find out!
Despite having a formulaic plot, Pitch Perfect benefits from its sensational cast, consisting of Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Elizabeth Banks, Skylar Astin, and many more. Critics highly praised the performances of Kendrick and Wilson, with the latter
receiving special praise for her splendid comic-timing and raucous one-liners. Kendrick also displays her singing talent in the film. Overall, this flick is highly enjoyable that appeals, especially to younger audiences. Do not miss watching it.
The first movie’s success inspired Brownstone Productions and Gold Circle Films to release two more commercially successful sequels: Pitch Perfect 2 (2015) and Pitch Perfect 3 (2017).
The original Pitch Perfect currently stands at an 81% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 154 reviews. This Anna Kendrick starrer is streaming on Prime Video.
