The film tells the story of a young man Thomas Richardson, a genius mind, who returns to his home after a long time but gets to know that his sister is held captive by a religious cult and they want ransom. Thomas Richardson adventures into a beautiful Island where the cult is based in search for his sister. Many secrets of the cult are revealed in front of the eyes of Thomas and he soon realises that the corruption of the mainland that compelled the cult into forming, has inculcated into the cult itself and many insiders are affected by it.
Apostle stars actors like Dan Stevens, Lucy Boynton, Mark Lewis Jones, Bill Milner, Kristine Froseth, Paul Higgins and Michael Sheen. The performances are quite impressive and it is quite well executed. The film is written and directed by Gareth Evans. The music is composed by composers Fajar Yusekemal and Aria Prayogi. The wonderful visuals of the film are credited to the cinematographer Matt Flannery. The film got quite good reviews from critics and is an impressive watch.
There is a separate fan following for movies on cult religious traditions. Cults are naturally attractive and they offer a thrill like no other to horror movies. If you are into these kinds of movies, you should definitely try ‘Apostle’. It is available to watch on Netflix.
