Watch This Underrated Action Comedy On Netflix Starring Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise! The man who saved cinema! He is pretty pissed these days due to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 not getting enough IMAX screens due to Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. But there is no doubt in admitting that he is perfect and can do anything; we literally mean any damn thing in the world. The on-screen Ethan Hunt has bestowed numerous hits in his iconic film career, such as Top Gun (1986), Born on the Fourth of July (1989), A Few Good Men (1992), War of the Worlds (2005), the fan-favourite Mission: Impossible series, and more. His last project, Top Gun: Maverick, collected well over $1.4 billion globally. Amidst all these big movies, some of his films have not received the attention and acclaim they deserve. One of those movies is American Made (2017), currently streaming on Netflix.

Helmed by Doug Liman, American Made explores the real-life story of Barry Seal, a former TWA pilot who used to fly for CIA missions and later got involved with the Medellin Cartel, becoming a drug smuggler. To avoid jail time, he becomes an informant for the DEA.

Tom Cruise received critical acclaim for his performance as Barry Seal. His energetic and charming performance in the film shows why he is one of the best actors in Hollywood. He successfully brings a sense of charm and wit to the character, making Seal compelling. The rest of the cast does an impressive job too.

Doug Liman does a hell of a job at capturing the 1980s period setting and keeps the entire film fast-paced, fun, and lively. Cesar Charlone does a pretty amazing job in the cinematography department. In addition, the film’s use of dark humour is spot on.

The film currently has a rating of 85% (based on 273 reviews) on Rotten Tomatoes.

American Made stars Tom Cruise, Domhnall Gleeson, Sarah Wright Olsen, Caleb Landry Jones, and Jesse Plemons. It is currently streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned for more updates.
