Guy Ritchie’s filmmaking style may not sit well with everyone, but there is no denying that he has lots of talent. Making his filmmaking debut with Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), Ritchie has helmed some outstanding and highly entertaining films like RocknRolla (2008), Sherlock Holmes (2009), The Man from U.N.C.L.E (2015), The Gentlemen (2019), and many more. But we are going to talk about Snatch (2000), one of his earliest directional projects, starring Brad Pitt. It is streaming on Netflix.

Taking place in London’s criminal underworld, Snatch has two plots: one deals with a small-time boxing promoter (Jason Statham), and the other revolves around the search for a stolen diamond. Statham’s Turkish constantly finds himself under the control of ‘Brick Top’ Pulford (played by Alan Ford). The film’s plot encompasses a unique blend of gangsters, diamond heists, and vibrant characters navigating London’s criminal underworld.

Snatch’s intricated but intriguing plot significantly benefits from its brisk pace, keeping the viewers engaged along the way. In addition, the film has plenty of unique characters and witty dialogue. Guy Ritchie’s visual style, stylish camerawork, and smooth editing make Snatch different from other crime gangster flicks. Overall, it is an entertaining watch! On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a ‘fresh’ score of 74%, based on 142 reviews.
