Alden Ehrenreich has joined the cast of Weapons, Zach Cregger’s next film, which already has talents like Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men, Deadpool 2, Avengers: Infinity War, and Dune) and Julia Garner (Netflix’s Ozark). Deadline first broke the news. While plot details about the film are under wraps now, the film serves as a follow-up to Cregger’s Barbarian (2022), which turned out to be both a financial and commercial success. Barbarian earned over $45 million against a $4-4.5 million budget and received a ‘fresh’ score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 207 certified reviews. It featured Bill Skarsgard, Georgina Campbell, and Justin Long.
Apart from his helming duties, Cregger will also co-produce Weapons alongside Miri Yoon (Vertigo), Roy Lee (Vertigo), Raphael Margules, and J. D. Lifshitz (BoulderLight Pictures).
Weapons, at one point, had Pedro Pascal. However, The Last of Us actor decided to leave the project due to his commitment to Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four, in which he will portray Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic.
Alden Ehrenreich was active in 2023. The on-screen Han Solo worked in three movies last year: Chloe Domont’s Fair Play, Elizabeth Banks’ Cocaine Bear, and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. In addition to Weapons, the actor will also appear in the Disney+/Marvel series Ironheart. Stay tuned for more updates.
