Wedding Season: A Story Of Indians Which Netflix India Ignored

Netflix India is known for great yet inconsistent marketing campaigns. Binged has already pointed out several times that Netflix never puts half as much into promoting Indian titles as they do in foreign films/series.

But a strange phenomenon happened.

Netflix produced a film called Wedding Season. It revolves around the story of Asha and Ravi who are Indians living in the USA. A wise saying says that Indianess never leaves Indian and it might even be true to a great extent.

But often it comes bundled with a lot of stereotypes which is sometimes problematic.

This might be the case with the Wedding Season. The utterly predictable movie is about two young bachelors whose parents are forcing them to get married to an eligible bachelor.

The two agree to meet each other but are very clear that they won’t be getting married. Regardless, what follows is a cheesy romance with a lot of clichés.

Netflix India didn’t promote this movie through their social media handles. Even though some Indians might have found it relatable, the opportunity was let go of.

Perhaps it was good because such romantic comedies are no longer entertaining for the audience. It would be too cheesy and perhaps help in nothing but trolls.

So it was a kinda wise decision because anyways, not a lot of people would be interested in the film.
