Soon after the release of the Netflix series ‘Wednesday’ in November last year, the horror comedy show began dominating the Netflix top ten charts across the globe. It became one of the most-watched shows for the streaming giant. Earlier this year, ‘Wednesday’ was unsurprisingly renewed for a second season.
And now, as per the latest update (via Bloomberg), a ‘Wednesday’ spin-off is under development at Netflix. And the new show will focus on another Addams family member – Uncle Fester. Uncle Fester is the uncle of Wednesday, and the role was essayed in the ongoing series by Fred Armisen. Although it was just a guest role and not a major one in the Jenna Ortega led ‘Wednesday’ series.
As of now, the Uncle Fester based show is purportedly in the early stages of development. Other details about the series such as the story, cast members, and directors, etc. are yet to be revealed.
The parent series ‘Wednesday’ revolves around the titular Addams Family character named Wednesday Addams (played by Jenna Ortega). The story is about how the titular protagonist, a gothic teenage girl, hones her psychic abilities and attempts to investigate a series of brutal killings.
It would be interesting to see whether the Wednesday spin-off series based on Uncle Fester would be able to recreate the same magic as its predecessor. The second season of ‘Wednesday’ is expected to commence filming next year in April.
