Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City May Get Released On This Streaming Service

Wes Anderson’s upcoming sci-fi rom-com, Asteroid City, has emerged as a potential Oscar 2024 contender after its premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The movie was met with a highly positive response at the event. Anderson has gained global prominence over the years, largely due to his unique and colourful directional style. Asteroid City will arrive in theatres on June 16. But what about its streaming release? Let’s find out!

Streaming services have gained significant recognition in Hollywood and all around the world. However, Wes Anderson is not a big fan of streaming platforms. His last project, The French Dispatch, received a 100-day domestic theatrical run in the US before its streaming release. So, we should expect Asteroid City to get a similar treatment. Although, a lot also depends upon the film’s theatrical performance. If it performs poorly, then streaming lovers may get the chance to watch the film after the completion of its 45-day theatrical window.

As for its streaming platform, Asteroid City is expected to arrive on Peacock after completing its theatrical run. The film’s distribution is being handled by Universal Pictures and Focus Features. The latter is a film distribution company owned by NBCUniversal, Universal, and Comcast. And Peacock serves as one of the subsidiaries of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. It means that the forthcoming Wes Anderson directional may arrive on Peacock after completing its theatrical run. This scenario also indicates that Indian viewers may get to watch the film on JioCinema as Peacock’s content is now available on Viacom18’s OTT service.

Written and helmed by Wes Anderson, Asteroid City stars Scarlett Johansson, Jason Schwartzman, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Bryan Cranston, Tilda Swinton, Adrien Brody, Edward Norton, Hope Davis, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Margot Robbie, Willem Dafoe, and more. Stay tuned for more updates.
