Wes Anderson‘s latest offering “The French Dispatch” tagged as a “love-letter to journalists”, is an anthology comedy drama written, directed and produced by him. The critics darling and BAFTA nominee will finally stream on Disney+Hotstar in India from today (18th March,2022).

The film had it’s international premiere at the Cannes International Film Festival, 2021. The story was conceived by Anderson and his frequent collaborators Roman Coppola, Hugo Guinness and Jason Schwartzman.

Featuring a large ensemble cast, the film follows three different stories as the French foreign bureau of the fictional Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun newspaper creates its final issue. The French dispatch, mostly for its star-cast and Wes Anderson’s directorial credits had attracted all the right kind of attraction.

The first segment titled “The Concrete Masterpiece”is about an unstable painter, and stars Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton and Léa Seydoux. The second, “Revisions to a Manifesto”, is inspired by th student protests of May 68, and stars Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet and Lyna Khoudri. The third bit is titled “The Private Dining Room of the Police Commissioner” while it features Jeffrey Wright, Mathieu Amalric and Stephen Park.

This short follows the kidnapping of a police commissioner’s son. Bill Murray also stars as Arthur Howitzer Jr., the paper’s editor whose death is mourned in an obituary by the end. Head straight to Disney+Hotstar and add this Wes Anderson comedy to your weekend watchlist.
