The anticipated movie ‘The Uglies’ will finally be coming out on Netflix soon. After a long period of waiting, fans will get to see the popular novels being adapted to screens. It will star actors like Joey King, Chase Stokes, Brianne Tju, and Keith Powers in leading roles. It is said that it was Joey King who brought the whole series to Netflix making them buy the rights.
The direction is handled by Joseph McGinty Nichol a.k.a McG. He is known for previously helming projects like Terminator: Salvation and Charlie’s Angels. It will be great to see him Adapt a popular Scott Westerfeld novel.
The movie will be telling the story of Tally Youngblood, who lives in a world where girls go through a high-tech surgery when they reach the age of sixteen and the surgery makes the physical differences between them go away, making them look prettier. Tally had been waiting to become sixteen for this surgery all her life, but when time came her best friend Shay decided not to go through the surgery and run. Tally is given the choice to turn Shay in or deprive herself of the privilege of turning pretty. Tally struggles between conformity, loyalty and her own deepest childhood wish.
Joey King says she had been a fan of the series ever since she read the book and wanted to play Tally. It is great news for fans of the book as well.
It is expected that ‘The Uglies’ will premiere on Netflix on the 14th of September this year.
