Chiyan Vikram starrer Thangalaan is set to release next Friday on August 15th. The movie is long awaited by the Indian audience and can prove to be the movie that tops the charts of the box office. The movie clashes with some big names like Stree 2, Khel Khel Mein and Double Ismart; so, it will be quite interesting to see how the movie will deal with this competition.
Thangalaan is a great movie with an excellent plot and storyline, with intense action, graphically breathtaking scenes, captivating audio by A. R. Rahman and a talented cast makes the movie worth watching. The movie is captivating as well as artistic. Chiyan’s dedication to his role is evident through the fact that one can’t even recognise him when watching the trailer for the first time. The other cast also look phenomenal in their roles as we watch the trailer. Also, the movie being a period drama based on true events further increases the chances of its success. There are two reasons why the movie can surpass even the national favourite Stree 2 in opening day collections.
First reason is the nature of the movie itself. The movie is a big-budget action-thriller, on the contrary its top competitor is a horror-comedy with a small budget. The star value of Vikram is also far greater than the whole cast of Stree 2 combined. Hence, Thangalaan gets an edge here. Secondly, Thangalaan is a kind of movie that is worth watching in theatres. One likes to watch movies that will look good on a big screen. Movies that are graphically captivating, action filled and with a lot of VFX have an edge in theatres against movies with plain and linear graphics. Even Aadipurush went on adding multiple hundred crores to its collection due to its theatre worthy graphics. Stree 2 lacks in this aspect. This makes it less likely for the movie to surpass Thangalaan which is graphically captivating.
The inference that can be drawn is, though Stree 2 is more awaited by audiences and has a huge fan following for the film; still the audience will choose for Thangalaan if given a chance due to the above factors. Although it will be a tough competition, still one can see Thangalaan having an edge over Stree 2.
