Roshan Andrews is directing his first Hindi film and Shahid Kapoor is playing the lead role. The film has been titled ‘Deva’ and it will be a high-on-adrenaline action drama. As far as we know, it is an original story and not a remake, which is indeed a good thing.
It has been a trend for Bollywood stars to resort to South Indian filmmakers for big hits. As Shahrukh Khan had a blast with ‘Jawan’ and Ranbir Kapoor collaborated with Sandeep Reddy Vanga to have the superhit ‘Animal’, Akshay Kumar followed them with ‘Sarfira’, which did not work out well at the box office but contributed in mending Akshay Kumar’s image as a lousy actor. The movie got some great reviews and Akshay’s performance was appreciated by many.
Shahid Kapoor already had a big hit with Vanga but his last movies like ‘Bloody Money’ and ‘Teri Baaton Me Aisa Uljha Jiya’ did not make any difference at all. Itt will be great to see him collaborate with Roshan Andrews, a director who is known for movies like ‘Prathi Poovankozhi’, ‘Salute’, ‘Mumbai Police’ and ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’. ‘Deva’ probably be the superhit action thriller that Shahid deserves now.
‘Deva’ is expected to release in October this year.
