Tumbbad is set to be released on 13th September, Friday expecting a grand welcome from the audience. The film has a high nostalgic value and high critical acclaim. The film was regarded as a cinematic masterpiece by many critics. Initially the film did not receive much attention by the audiences but later the film became a cult classic and gained an immense following.
The film awaits its re-release but, the day will not be a clear road for it. Many obstacles await the film as it moves towards its re-release. The month of September is filled with some huge releases that can affect the success of Tumbbad. The film will be released in a stage where it will have to compete with many released and upcoming films.
The month starts with one of the biggest ventures of the year The Greatest of All Times (GOAT) starring Vijay. The movie is a huge one, filled with action and entertainment. On top of that, it will also carry the emotion of the film being possibly the second last project of Vijay. It is expected to get a huge treatment and it will continue with a successful tenure to further weeks when Tumbbad releases. The Buckingham Murders will be released on the same day as Tumbbad, it stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and is directed by Hansal Mehta. The film is expected to get a good return and can be an obstacle for Tumbbad being a mystery thriller. Hellboy: The Crooked Man too releases on the same day, and considering Marvel’s history in India will divert quite a good amount of people towards it.
Apart from these, the upcoming projects of the month like Devara Part 1 and Yudhra also have the capacity to divert a large section of the audience towards them. They both are big budget action films that are always appreciated and watched by audiences.
It will be quite interesting to see if Tumbbad is able to surpass these obstacles to emerge as a great success. The film surely needs the attention that it could not initially get, but deserved.
