Chris Hemsworth has two big releases this year: Spiderhead and Thor: Love and Thunder. Top Gun: Maverick fame, Joseph Kosinski, has helmed the former. On the other hand, Taika Waititi sat on the director’s chair again for the fourth Thor entry after his wildly innovative and outstanding direction in Thor: Ragnarok (2017). Additionally, Hemsworth has completed the shoot of the Extraction sequel and George Miller’s Furiosa. No doubt the actor has enough on his plate right now. But what about his Hulk Hogan biopic? Is he working on it? Let’s find out.
Hemsworth was asked by ComicBook’s Chris Killian about the status of his Hulk Hogan project some time ago. Joker fame, Todd Phillips, will helm the film. The actor replied that the film was still in a developmental stage. He even called the director brilliant in his work. On being asked about ripping his shirts off as Hogan did in his pro-wrestling days, “Haven’t ripped off any shirts yet but you will be the first to hear about it,” Hemsworth said.
Hulk Hogan was one of the most popular pro-wrestlers of the 80s. He even became the face of WWF (World Wrestling Federation, now WWE) during that time. Additionally, he received the honour of headlining eight out of the first nine Wrestlemanias (WWE’s flagship event). However, the retired pro-wrestler has also been a part of various controversies including Richard Belzer’s lawsuit, his testimony in Vince McMahon’s trial on the illegal use of steroids on pro-wrestlers in the 80s, and his infamous sex tape with Heather Clam, the estranged wife of Bubba the Love Sponge.
A long time has passed since the announcement of the Hulk Hogan biopic by Netflix. Apart from Chris Hemsworth, no other actor has been cast by the streaming giant for the project. Although, Eric Bischoff is serving as one of the executive producers here. Stay tuned for more updates.
