Netflix’s upcoming Korean film ‘‘ has got a release date. Starring Cha In-Pyo as himself, ‘What Happened To Mr. Cha?’ is a comedy film coming to Netflix globally on 1st January, 2021.
‘What Happened To Mr. Cha?’ is “about Cha In-pyo, a megastar past his prime, struggling to restore the glory of his heyday as an actor”. While playing himself in the film, Cha In-Pyo “crosses the boundaries between his real self and the fictional character in the film. He peppers his characterization with the outgoing, relatable and intense aspects of his own personality, while delivering snippets of fresh ideas and hearty laughter.”
Other than Cha In-Pyo, ‘What Happened To Mr. Cha?’ also stars Cho Dal-hwan as Cha In-Pyo’s manager Kim A-ram. Cho Dal-hwan “is known for his astute character analysis and steadfast performances in film and television”.
Written and directed by Kim Dong-kyu, ‘What Happened To Mr. Cha?’ has been produced by About Film with which they “aim to please the audiences with good clean fun and warm laughter, and demonstrate the appeal of a nice, entertaining film.”
Cha In-Pyo gained fame through 1997 hit television series ‘Star in My Heart’. His 2008 film ‘Crossing’ was South Korea’s entry to the 81st Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. He was also seen in Netflix original series ‘Sense 8’.
About Film is a key player in South Korean film industry and is known for its ventures like ‘Extreme Job’, ‘Secret Zoo’, ‘The Sound of a Flower’ and ‘Detour’.
‘What Happened To Mr. Cha?’ is all set for it’s worldwide premiere only on Netflix on 1st January, 2021.
